Sip & Guzzle: The best lunch options near dundee, oregon

Here is a complete guide to LUNCH IN WINE COUNTRY TO ensure you don’t miss out on the culinary wonders of THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY

There’s truly nothing better than enjoying a delicious, filling lunch in the middle of a Willamette Valley wine-tasting day. The perfect food pairing to balance out all that great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay you’ve been sipping (or skin-contact Pinot Gris if you’re visiting us!). But finding a spot for a satisfying a midday meal in Willamette Valley wine country can be an ordeal, especially when you're on a tight timeline. The options are often either fully booked or come with a lengthy wait time- neither of which is ideal when you're trying to stick to your tight tasting schedule.

At Artist Block Tasting Room (nestled just outside the heart of Dundee), we know the local scene well, so we’re here to help, and there are a few things to consider before venturing into town (or out of it) for lunch.

Red Hills Market: A Solid Lunch Option (But Be Prepared to Wait)

One of the most reliable choices around is Red Hills Market in downtown Dundee, open for lunch 7 days a week and a regular haunt for the local vintners and industry folk. Known for its consistently delicious sandwiches, salads, and seasonal specials, it’s a great place to fuel up. Don’t sleep on the Monster Cookie, (thank us later.) The ingredients are fresh, and the wine and beverage selection is excellent, making it an ideal spot for a quick break between tastings.

Note: during peak season, this place can get packed. If you’re planning to hit Red Hills, be prepared for a wait, especially during lunch hours. If your wine-tasting schedule is tight, this might not be the best option for your group. That said, if you’re not in a rush, relax in the adirondack chairs or picnic tables with a beverage, and enjoy the local scene.

The Newbergundian: Thoughtfully Prepared and intimate setting

Another favorite lunch spot near Artist Block is The Newbergundian, located just a hop down the road in Newberg. Seasonally open 7 days a week for lunch. The food here is thoughtfully prepared, and the menu is filled with delicious fare that has an option for everyone in your party.

Think elevated comfort food with a modern French twist—perfect for recharging during your wine-tasting adventure. However, seating is limited, and you might encounter a wait like Red Hills. However, it’s one of our favorites, and we love the open kitchen ambiance and the consistent food quality.

Merenda Deli: A Fresh Addition to Dundee

If you haven’t checked out Merenda Deli yet, you’re in for a treat. This new spot in town has quickly gained a reputation for its straightforward and delicious sandwiches. The brightly lit  deli has a laid-back feel, perfect for a casual lunch during a day of wine tasting. To boot, they should get an award for their brown butter chocolate chip cookie.

Trellis: A staple to the locals If You Plan Ahead

For those who plan ahead (or get lucky), Trellis is a fantastic lunch spot that is also open 7 days a week. Located in Dundee, it’s the perfect combination of upscale yet relaxed, with a menu that features everything from fresh seafood to hearty salads and their famous (OK, maybe just famous to us) French fries. Don’t skip dessert—Trellis' sweet offerings are the perfect way to end a midday meal. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during the busy summer months.

Wooden Heart: Gorgeous SeTTING and Wood Fired Goodness

Wooden Heart has quickly won a place in our hearts for their delicious wood-fired pizzas, relaxed yet upscale ambiance (including a cozy fireplace), and their fresh seasonal fare. If you’re “wined out,” their cocktail selection will suit you perfectly; the spritz is our fave! You can usually get into Wooden Heart without a reservation as their seating isn’t as limited as the other options listed, but you can always make one ahead of time as well.

For a slightly more refined experience, Rosmarino is the place to go. This Italian-inspired restaurant is the highest-rated option in the area, offering elevated dishes with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The service is exceptional, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. However, it’s essential to make a reservation if you plan to dine here, especially during high season. We can never say no to the perfect taco, and Kopitos in Newberg is a local favorite for Mexican food. Known for its fresh and flavorful yet elevated Mexican cuisine, this spot offers the perfect balance of hearty and light options to please any palate.
